Dental Bridges

If you have lost a tooth or a number of teeth, a bridge can help restore your confidence and fill the gaps to create a beautiful, natural smile.

At York Dental, we understand that missing teeth can cause patients numerous problems such as difficulty eating, impact upon appearance, causing bite problems and causing surrounding teeth to move.

We use bridges to resolve these issues and help our patients regain their confidence.

How does a bridge work?

Quite simply, a bridge is an artificial tooth, which is held in place on either side by the adjacent teeth. A ‘wing’ mechanism keeps the bridge stable and it is supported by crowns.

Prior to a bridge being placed, considerable preparation work must to be carried out on your natural teeth.

In some cases, a bridge can also be glued into place, which saves additional preparation work to the surrounding teeth. However, this is not always as resilient as the traditional bridge structure.

Looking after Your bridge

You will need to keep the area beneath the bridge clean and healthy by brushing and flossing twice daily.
